Anodized aluminum rollers can offer a variety of surface treatments, which makes them suitable for different substrates and industries.
The white anodized surface has a hardness of HV300, making it mainly used in low tension film industry. Brown hard anodized aluminum roller have a hardness of HV500-700, along with a much thicker oxide film, which is essential for use in high tension and thicker materials. This increases the wear resistance of the rollers, thus increasing their service life.
These rollers are also suitable for processing paper, film, textiles, metal foil, and other products, preventing wrinkling of the substrate during operation. Aluminum rollers with a sandblasted or shot blasted surface are also known as matte rollers, and they offer improved friction. This type of roller is mostly used in film manufacturing.
The surface of aluminum rollers can also be plated with hard chromium, which results in a higher hardness and corrosion resistance, along with a very low surface roughness, as low as Ra0.01. This allows use on higher speed machines compared to the traditional chrome-plated steel.
Mirror aluminum rollers also provide a smooth surface, with low resistance.
